Our Focus
Embraced by Jesus
We usually think of mission as something we do. In reality, our mission as followers of Jesus starts with something done for and to us.
Embraced by Jesus
That is, our life in God starts with submission: submitting our will to God’s will. Acknowledging that we can’t heal ourselves. Coming under God’s authority and asking him to reorder our disordered loves and longings. When we entrust ourselves to Jesus like this, He brings us into himself (see the 4 large inward-facing arrows in the logo?). We exchange our pain for his healing. Our emptiness for his fullness. Our chains for his freedom. Our death for his life. And all of this starts with God. He invites and we respond. He forgives us, heals us, and transforms us into the image of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. He infuses us with his very life as we’re brought into union with Jesus. We’re made a new creation!
Embodying his Presence
Our life in Jesus doesn’t end with the renewal and transformation we experience in our union with Him. Instead, he sends us out to minister his very presence in the world.
Embodying his Presence
As we’re united to Jesus and receive life and nourishment from him, we also participate in his mission of making all things new, restoring the brokenness in the world–reconciling the world to God. As Jesus indwells us and we indwell our communities, the presence and power of Jesus are made tangible. Think of that–God is tangibly present to the world through us! As we receive his healing presence, we are sent out to embody that healing presence everywhere (note the 4 smaller outward facing arrows in the logo). Embodying Jesus to our parents, children, and siblings. Embodying Jesus to our coworkers, classmates, and neighbors. Embodying Jesus to the grocery store clerk, barista, and customer service rep. What a profound calling!
Table Groups
At Incarnation, Table Groups are spaces we carve out to be present to God and to one another. It’s one way we embody Jesus to each other and our neighbors. In our hectic lives, it’s a needed alternative rhythm, where we tune our hearts to God and one another. It’s less of a program and more of a way of life.
